This season’s surge in attendance at Finley Stadium for University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football games has the Stadium Corp. board feeling optimistic about finishing this fiscal year in the black.
During Tuesday’s board meeting, stadium executive director Merrill Eckstein went over the year-to-date revenues and expenditures. Eckstein said the stadium remained on target to reach its projection of a $10,800 profit in 2010-11.
“I think that indeed will happen,” Eckstein said.
The Mocs, ranked No. 20 heading into Saturday’s game against Elon, are 5-2, (4-1 in the Southern Conference) and are riding the program’s first five-game win streak since 1980. In its three home games this season, UTC’s average attendance is 14,397, which is among the top 20 in the Football Championship Subdivision.
The Stadium Corp. makes money during Mocs games via parking and concessions. So far this fiscal year, including all events at Finley, in the Stadium Club or the First Tennessee Pavilion, the Stadium Corp. has earned $22,963 from parking and $35,546 from concessions.
Both figures are well ahead of where they were at this point last season.
