A 64-year-old man wanted in Gordon County, Georgia, on felony warrants for terroristic threats was arrested by East Ridge police Wednesday morning after barricading himself in a room at the Super 8 Hotel.

Police were called to the hotel at 6519 Ringgold Road around 10:56 a.m. after Jim Sanford Hunter refused to leave his room after the check-out time, according to a news release.

Once officers arrived, Hunter told them he was armed and threatened violence if police attempted to come into his room. The East Ridge police SWAT team was called in, along with a negotiator, police said.

After over three hours, Hunter exited the room and was taken into custody without incident, the release states. Authorities found several rifles, shotguns, handguns and ammunition in the hotel room.

Hunter was taken to the Hamilton County Jail and awaits extradition proceedings.
