Tuesday’s recap: The Lookouts won a pitchers’ duel as three hurlers combined on a three-hitter. Todd Van Steensel (5-1) earned the win with two innings of no-hit, three-strikeout relief, and Ryne Harper retired all six batters he faced to earn his fifth save. Chattanooga (31-20) starter Lewis Thorpe was dominating, going five innings and allowing three hits while striking out eight and walking two. The Lookouts broke up a scoreless game in the seventh after Edgar Corcino led off with a single and advanced to third on an error. Ryan Walker followed one out later with an RBI single and the game’s only run. Matt Tomshaw took the hard-luck loss for Birmingham (22-28) after going seven innings and allowing the unearned run and five hits.
