Man says Jesus told him to break police windshields

A 51-year-old man told police that Jesus told him to use a baseball bat to break the windshields on several Dalton police vehicles.

But guilt apparently got the best of David Morrissey, of Rome, Ga., and he approached two Dalton police officers outside the Dalton Police Services Center about midnight Monday, telling them he wanted to turn himself in, police said.

Morrissey told them he had broken the windshields in a back parking lot.

“He told us that Jesus told him to do it,” said Bruce Frazier, department spokesman.

Morrissey has been charged with interference with government property and criminal damage to property, police said.

The windshields have since been replaced, police said.
