CLEVELAND, Tenn. — One school has an abundance of young authors — young, published authors.

Kindergartners through fifth-graders at Tennessee Christian Preparatory School spent 12 weeks coming up with their stories and learning to write them, while also creating or collecting illustrations and learning about art. Once done, they sent their work off to a publisher.

As part of an outdoor event with parents, friends and teachers to celebrate the arts of all kinds, the kids got their first look last week at their own hardback book.

Hannah Evans’ book is “The Ride.” She likes horses, she said, and, in the book, four friends go on a horseback ride, including Hannah and her dad. She drew the art, as well.

“I enjoyed them both, the writing and the art,” she said.
