Time to play ‘Fool the Voter’
It’s that time of year when politicians play “Fool the Voter.”
Voters have the amazing capacity for self-induced amnesia that appears by magic every election. They pull down woolen caps over their eyes, plug their noses to the fetid smells of gaseous office seekers and stuff sheepish fingers in their ears to prevent any sounds of common sense, reason and skepticism from tickling their brainpans.
All the while, they speak in the glossolalia of wishful, childish and deluded chants of: “This time it will be different. This person is not like all the others. This person is honest, compassionate, a person of the people and is concerned about me!”
Hilarious, isn’t it?
