The third annual Whoop Dee Doo, a three-day event sponsored by the Shops of Riverview, starts Thursday.
Each day through April 24, participating shops will feature fun, food and special savings to benefit Diaper Changes, an outreach agency started by a group of Chattanooga moms working in partnership with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.
Diaper Changes provides disposable diapers, which are not covered by programs such as food stamps or WIC, to low-income households in the Chattanooga area. Dropoff bins will be provided at each participating merchant, in exchange for a coupon for additional savings at the stores in May.
Festivities begin 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Light refreshments will be provided. Participating retailers will offer 20 percent discounts on purchases all weekend. Planning special activities are:
* The Clay Pot, 1311 Hanover St. Wacky Photo Shoot on Thursday night for a spring keepsake; drawing for a $100 gift certificate.
* Vine Street Market, 1313 Hanover St. Dine under the stars on the restaurant lawn; special menu offered 5-7:30 p.m.; entertainment by local dance band Standing Room Only.
