Coup leaders still at large
The Jan. 6 insurrection was inevitable. For more than 50 years, Republicans have attacked our government. Their anti-government stance has been combined with racism to make a toxic accelerant that fueled the attempted coup.
Nixon started sabotaging America with his “Southern strategy” of using “racist dog whistles” to attract the votes of white Southerners. Reagan doubled down with the old racist trope disparaging “welfare queens” and framing “government help” as the enemy of the people. He fueled the rise of domestic terrorism that came to fruition with the Oklahoma City bombing which killed 168 Americans and wounded 759.
Since then, the majority of Republican politicians have worshipped the idea of the Constitution without understanding that it creates and informs the government that they degrade. Republicans have not only provided sanctuary for seditionists but are responsible for creating a terrorist movement that is destroying America.
The gullible “foot soldiers” of the insurrection from right-wing militias are now being arrested, indicted and prosecuted, but the leaders, funders and inciters still walk the halls of Congress, board rooms and country clubs across America.
