“Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord.” Exodus 20:9-10
Summerwwtime is around the corner, which means we are probably planning for our vacation. We all love a good vacation. Kids love summer vacation. Families love to take vacations.
We love them because a vacation means rest from the daily hassles of life. It means having some time to revive from the daily grind.
Unfortunately for some, this time of year also means a vacation from church.
Let’s think about that phrase, “A vacation from church.” Does that even make sense? If you understand what church is really about and what God is saying in the above passage from Exodus, then you know that church is kind of like a vacation. What does the word Sabbath mean? It means “rest.” Don’t we go on vacation to find rest?
