Seven people at the Orange Grove Center in Chattanooga have tested positive for the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, authorities confirmed Saturday.
Five residents and two staff members tested positive at the facility and the Hamilton County Health Department is working with the center and has implemented contact tracing, isolation and quarantine measures.
Heidi Hoffecker, director of development at Orange Grove Center, said the first person to test positive for the virus was confirmed Thursday night. That resident was then hospitalized and is doing well, Hoffecker said.
The other test results came back Friday. The other members in that group home who tested positive have been isolated and are following quarantine protocals.
Orange Grove Center is a nonprofit organization that serves adults and children with intellectual disabilities, among other things.
The center has 64 group homes, and Hoffecker said the five resident cases were all in the same home.
