It was 62 years ago when the nation of Israel came into being — but immediately was subjected to military attack from neighboring nations that sought to abort Israel’s birth in 1948.
Almost miraculously, Israel won. But peace was not to prevail. After several years of terrorist attacks, full-scale war broke out again, in 1967. Again almost miraculously, Israel won what came to be known as the Six-Day War with Egypt, Syria and Jordan. But then came still another major war, in 1973, though Israel again survived.
Violent threats continue today.
But unhappy Arabs in Israel, as well as the neighboring nations, and certainly the Israelis all would be much better off if real peace prevailed with no hostile threats.
Students of the Bible are aware of thousands of years of strife in Israel. Sadly, animosities continue today.
