Calling wolf on president and more letters to the editors

You agree with Trump that the four congresswomen have been “spewing some of the most vile … horrible, anti-Israel, anti-USA, pro-terrorist … .” Can you not simply disagree with someone without saying the person is anti-American? Pro-terrorist? Treasonous?

Ironically, among Republicans, Graham and McConnell, now silent, are on record calling Trump a racist, misogynist and nationalist. To hear the elevated discourse you call for, please search YouTube for the congresswomen’s responses to Trump.

At Trump’s rally, chants of “send her back” were reminiscent of “lock her up” in 2016. (Four of his associates from that era are serving prison time, and Flynn is awaiting sentencing.)

These women don’t speak as a group, but Trump does not see beyond female and color. This kind of fervor is frightening; congresswomen/men have no security detail.

You asked if Democrats have called “wolf” once too often. There are more than 10,000 documented lies he’s told while president. Weekly, there are over-the-top revelations, beginning with his sharing top secret intelligence in the Oval Office, sexual assaults, separating children from parents, believing Russian intelligence over ours, etc.

So while Republicans are fine with this behavior, I am left calling “wolf.”

Cartoon elicits subscription end

I enjoy a good political cartoon, but you went over the line with your disrespect to the POTUS.

Depicting him in a recent cartoon as having segregated drinking fountains in the White House is way over the line.

Enough is enough, I will not renew my subscription.

Offering time, skill for board patriotic

I feel it important that District 1 not be viewed as apathetic when it comes to citizen involvement with its city government and more specifically the appointment of individuals to the newly formed Citizen Oversight Board.

The article states that Councilman [Chip] “Henderson said a lack of applicants for the role and a trust of Rick Mincy in his community led to his decision.”

As a past president of the Lookout Valley Neighborhood Association and a graduate of the Citizens Police Academy myself, I offered my name as an applicant for this new position as well. When I called Chip several weeks ago to inform him of my interest, he told me that several people had called him expressing their interest.

That makes me proud to know that citizens in my district were indeed interested in participating to ensure not only a proper oversight of government but were willing to devote their time, skills and energies for an unpaid position. That, folks, is patriotism.

For the record, I’m sure that Mr. Mincy will do a fair job.

Trump doesn’t love America, Americans

So Trump’s latest strategy for re-election is to claim that Democrats hate America? I guess that is because some don’t swallow his damaging, half-baked executive orders and proposed legislation which is immediately challenged in court?

Trump may say that he loves America, but he hates Americans. Barely a day goes by when he berates from his lofty position women, people of color, legal immigrants, journalists, sports figures, congressmen, senators, members of the FBI, and CIA, and of course millions of American citizens who are Democrats.

His tax cuts and trade policies damage our workers and farmers. He embarrasses us on the world stage with his bad behavior toward our allies and praise of dictators. His heavy-handed policies aim to poison our country, our children, our future.

No, Mr. Trump, I don’t think you love America or Americans and hope that your base will see that soon, if someday.
