Georgia forward Yante Maten has withdrawn his name from next month’s NBA draft and will return for his senior season with the Bulldogs.
The deadline to withdraw from the draft is today.
“I’ve had a very good experience working out with teams, and it has helped my development out tremendously,” Maten posted Tuesday night on social media. “I have talked it over with my family and decided to return to the University of Georgia for my senior year.”
Maten was not among the more than 60 players who received invitations to the NBA draft combine earlier this month in Chicago.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pounder from Pontiac, Mich., averaged 18.2 points and 6.8 rebounds this past season for the Bulldogs, who finished with a 19-15 record after a first-round NIT loss to Belmont. He also blocked 43 shots despite missing five games with a sprained knee.
Georgia will return nine of its top 10 scorers from last season, the exception being guard J.J. Frazier.
