NASHVILLE – The U.S. Senate on Thursday voted to confirm David Jolley as United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Tennessee, according to U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander’s office.

Alexander applauded Jolley’s confirmation, stating in a news release the veteran law enforcement officer had a distinguished career in law enforcement – including formerly serving as the U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee – and he will serve East Tennesseans with integrity.”

During former President George W. Bush’s administration, Jolley served as U.S. Marshal in the Western District.

When President Trump nominated Jolley last September, the Knoxville News Sentinel noted his wife runs the Knoxville office of U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn.

At the time, Corker called him “extremely qualified,” noting that in addition to having previously served as U.S. Marshal in the Western District, Jolley “has had a long, distinguished career in law enforcement, including as a special agent for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and as director of the Tennessee Valley Authority Police. He knows exactly what this job demands.”
