Dade County’s Wolverines entered the sixth Times Free Press Best of Preps high school basketball tournament unbeaten through 10 games with a run-and-gun reputation and some triple-digit scoring totals to back it up.
Monday at Arts & Sciences, it was opponent McCallie doing most of the running and gunning – and all the triple-digit scoring.
With 10 Blue Tornado players entering the scoring column, McCallie pulled away from Dade for a 102-77 victory.
McCallie will play Red Bank in a semifinal at 8:30 tonight. Dade will play Ooltewah in a consolation-bracket game at 2:30.
The Wolverines like to play fast-paced but wilted this time. McCallie (8-1), which this season had a previous high game of 96 points, proved its players were conditioned to play end-to-end for 48 minutes, too.
