Security beefed up

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Second-floor visitors to the Bradley County Courthouse have a new set of security rules to follow.

The second floor is where courts and court clerks’ offices are.

The entrance doors at the top of a ramp on the Ocoee Street side of the building are now for exit only.

A new door will be installed there that is exit only, according to County Mayor D. Gary Davis. Until it is installed, a Bradley County Sheriff’s Office deputy is stationed there.

Second-floor visitors must use the Broad Street side of the courthouse for access and take a stairway or elevator. There they will find the metal detector that has been idle for years has been reactivated, screening everyone coming near the courts.
