Republican presidential can-didate and now a Fox News host, will be in the 3rd Dis-trict on April 28 to campaign on behalf of Republican con-gressional hopeful Chuck Fleischmann.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported Thurs-day that Mr. Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, planned to appear with Mr. Fleischmann this month but no date was available then.
Mr. Fleischmann said in a statement that he was “way beyond honored when Gov. Huckabee took a look at this race and decided I was the candidate that best rep-resented the values he has been leading the fight for as governor and candidate for president.
“The candidate said he looks “forward to standing next to him as we talk about the importance of reducing the deficit, reforming ear-marks, lowering taxes and fighting for life and tradi-tional marriage.”
GOP rival Robin Smith’s campaign manager has ques-tioned whether Mr. Huck-abee’s endorsement was linked to the fact that his 2008 presidential campaign manager, Chip Saltsman, is a paid adviser to the Fleisch-mann campaign.
