A job fair to staff 85 positions at Walmart’s new Neighborhood Market on Shallowford Road will be held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, 730 E. Martin Luther King Blvd.

Wal-Mart said the starting wage for all positions is $9 per hour and benefits are included. Warren Logan, Urban League of Greater Chattanooga president and CEO, said the fair wages and the benefits would help a lot of people in the community.

“One of the missions we have is to help people secure gainful employment,” Logan said. ” nytime we can, we help an employer in [our area].”

Walmart approached Urban League officials to help staff the new store after the success of Urban League’s last job fair, Logan said.

Walmart is looking to hire for part-time and full-time positions, including cashiers, deli and bakery associates, grocery stockers, maintenance, and produce associates.

Walmart also is hiring for the new Walmart Neighborhood Market slated to open this winter in Middle Valley. A temporary hiring center is open at 5450 Highway 153.
