You know to expect Nightfall and Chattanooga Unite concerts at this point in the summer, but this week’s entertainment options add a gospel music hall of fame induction and two theater events.
* Nightfall: Alex Cuba, a Cuban-Canadian singer/songwriter and two-time Juno Award winner for World Music Album of the Year, will headline the virtual Nightfall concert Friday, July 31. Opening act Brandy Robinson, who sings original soul and rock ‘n’ roll, will open the show at 7 p.m., and Cuba will follow at 7:20 p.m. Watch on Nightfall’s Facebook page or on YouTube at Nightfall Virtual. Robinson also will host a live watch party (wear your mask) at Puckett’s, 2 W. Aquarium Way. Call ahead to reserve a socially distanced seat, 423-708-8505. Learn more at NightfallChattanooga.com.
* “1984”: Back Alley Productions will present virtual performances of this dystopian drama, based on George Orwell’s book of the same name, the next two weekends. This is the first show the company has presented since shutting down in March because of the coronavirus pandemic. The actors will be performing live on the Mars Theatre stage, 117 N. Chattanooga St. in LaFayette, Georgia. Shows will be streamed at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, July 31-Aug. 1 and Aug. 7-8. Tickets are $10. A direct link to the show will be provided at the time of purchase. Reserve tickets at BAPshows.com.
* Chattanooga Unite gets a do-over on Saturday, Aug. 1, for its rained-out concert from July 18, sliding into what was originally an open date in the series. The free event will feature Fantastic Confabulation at 7:15 p.m. and Nashville’s Radio Romance at 9. Learn more at www.ChattanoogaUnite.com.
