NEW YORK (AP) – A painting by Edouard Manet is on the auction block for the second day of New York City’s fall sale of impressionist and modern art.

Manet’s “Spring,” a celebrated portrait of a Parisian actress, is one of the highlights at Christie’s on Wednesday. The painting has a presale estimate of $25 million to $35 million.

Christie’s also is featuring property of Academy Award-winning actress Joan Fontaine, including a 1935 painting by Marc Chagall, “Vase of Flowers in the Window.” It could fetch up to $600,000 on Thursday.

The sale kicked off Tuesday at Sotheby’s with a sculpture by Alberto Giacometti fetching over $100 million.

Also snatched up was a rare piece of artwork painted by Vincent van Gogh weeks before his death. It sold for $61.8 million.
