Trump and Hitler: different but alike

Regarding David Cook’s June 24 column:

Comparing Trump to Hitler is not the same as equating Trump to Hitler. The political and psychological similarity between the two individuals, their methods and their associates, is unmistakable, and has been clearly enumerated by political scientists and historians.

Do those similarities mean that Trump is going to murder millions of people because of their ethnicity or political leanings? Most likely, not. That does not mean that an affinity for fascist methods and bombastic behavior, as correctly attributed to Trump, cannot result in very dangerous and harmful actions – and probably will to an even greater extent than they already have.

Educate yourselves, vote in November

Many months ago, we thought we were out of the woods when the current administration tried unsuccessfully to repeal our health care rights. Thankfully, the nation pushed back.

Considering the chain of events, you’d think that our voices were heard and that the clear wishes of the American people would be respected moving forward.

Instead, the administration is using a “back door” way to take away access to affordable health care by simply refusing to enforce the laws specifically put in place to make health care affordable.

This is yet another example of a seemingly endless assault on the pocketbooks, well-being and quality of life of the American middle class.

The only bright spot in all of this is that in November, we will have the opportunity to elect a Congress that will help restore the checks and balances needed for fairness in government.

I don’t feel like many of Tennessee’s elected officials at the federal level are watching out for us, so my hope is that people educate themselves on the issues, the candidates running for office this November, and then get out and vote.

Hillary and minions choosy on Bible verses

Many of us are bemused, but not surprised, that Hillary, her acolytic minions, and various of the TFP’s writers and contributors, quote the Bible as a part of their quixotic quest for legitimacy.

Keeping in mind that there are no line-item vetoes when it comes to the word of God, we wonder how much they’d endorse and advocate Ephesians, Chapter 5, verses 22-24.
