As reported Tuesday, former Baylor School and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga golfer Stephan Jaeger qualified Monday in Springfield, Ohio, for the 2015 U.S. Open being played June 18-21 at Chambers Bay Links in the state of Washington.

How he did it was impressive. He shot 66 and 68 at Springfield Country Club for 6 under par for the 36 holes, tying him for third place in the qualifier.

Jaeger, who was an All-American at UTC and the only three-time Southern Conference men’s player of the year, is playing in a U.S. Open two years after a former Mocs teammate, Steven Fox, did so. Jaeger is playing this year on the Web.com Tour.
