Player: Mott Hyde

In a Calhoun lineup full of dangerous hitters, Hyde was the one opposing coaches tried to make sure wouldn’t beat them. The strategy rarely worked, however, as the Georgia Tech recruit helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a 35-1 record and Class AA state championship. Along the way were several memorable moments, including hitting five home runs in consecutive at-bats, compiling a .464 batting average, driving in 67 runs, scoring 54 and posting an eye-popping .603 on-base percentage. “It was a great season and I guess we met all our expectations,” said Hyde, one of seven Calhoun seniors and a repeat BOP Player of the Year. “With so many seniors, you can’t ask for better teammates and a better year.”
