More spending not a solution

The federally funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting says it will pump millions more dollars into one particular public TV program, “Frontline.”

Public radio and TV stations, meanwhile, are separately getting an additional $10 million.

“The corporation has invested heavily to boost journalism on public media over the past two years as newspapers decline,” The Associated Press reported.

There is no doubt that newspapers and magazines have faced tough economic times recently. But showering more taxpayer dollars on government-funded media is not the solution.

Government-backed media tend to promote big government, because that ensures greater funding for them.

But we do not believe the American people are calling at this point for even more government than our nation already has.
