If you’re looking for a way to help your neighbor, the opportunity awaits you Sunday, Aug. 16, at Chattanooga Market.
At its annual Live United Day, the market celebrates “all things United Way,” says market spokeswoman Melissa Siragusa. A key portion of the kid-friendly event is the chance to Stuff the Bus with school supplies or money for area children whose families can’t afford to buy the necessary items on the back-to-school list.
Last year, $50,000 worth of school supplies was collected. This year’s goal is $60,000, says Kelley Nave, spokeswoman for United Way.
“Approximately 10 United Way partners will have booths set up throughout the market with children’s games, arts, crafts and healthy activities for children and their families to enjoy,” Nave says, noting that parents can sign their toddlers up for free books and learning checkups.
“Every child who completes a learning checkup at the market that day will receive, by mail, a voucher for one free adult pass and one free child pass to the Creative Discovery Museum,” she says.
