Tis the season for tinsel, carols and White Russian cocktails.
As they say, “The dude abides.”
This year, Mellow Mushroom’s downtown location is hosting an unconventional holiday party for the books: a three-day Big Lebowski fest Dec. 2-4.
That Friday through Sunday, fans may enjoy a bevy of deals, including $3 small plates such as pretzel bites, bruschetta or hummus as well as 50-cent wings. Of course, White Russians will be available on special for an appropriate $4.20 per cocktail. Likewise, Mellow’s Half-Baked Brownie Sundae Supreme will also be $4.20 for the weekend.
The Mellow crew even created a Big Lebowski-themed pie for the event. The “El Duderino” is made with an olive oil and garlic base, topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, jalapenos, red peppers and melted cheese.
In addition to festive food and drink, the weekend will feature games, giveaways and more. Mellow’s Boom Room, for instance, will be made over to “really tie the room together,” said Mellow’s regional manager LJ Knight.
On Sunday, starting at – wait for it – 4:20 p.m., it will host a Big Lebowski-themed trivia night, led by Eddie Bridges.
Trivia costs $5 to play and participants must be 21 or older. Food and drink specials, including dollar drafts of Hutton & Smith Brewing Company On-Sight Alt and Good Schist Pale Ale, will be available during the game, after which Mellow and Hutton & Smith will unveil and give away a mural of “The Dude.”
“It’s going to be big time,” said Knight.
