Museum Center sets ‘King Arthur’ auditions

Auditions will be held Monday at the Museum Center at Five Points, 200 E. Inman St., in Cleveland, Tenn., for a weeklong, after-school drama camp conducted by Missoula Children’s Theatre.

This is the sixth year in a row that Missoula has hosted a residency week in Cleveland. This year’s production is “King Arthur’s Quest.”

Up to 60 young people will be cast. Among the roles are King Arthur, Guinevere, Merlin, Raven, Taleisin, Lancelot, the Knights, the Squires, the Camelotians, the Lady of the Lake, Mordred, Morgan Le Fey, Uther Pendragon, the Damsels and the Minis. Assistant directors also will be cast to help with the technical aspects of the production.

Those auditioning should arrive by 3:15 p.m. Monday to fill out the needed paperwork before the 3:45 p.m. audition and plan to stay for two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition until 8:15 p.m. If selected, the child must have the commitment of the parents to attend rehearsals 3:45-8:15 p.m. daily through March 26. Younger children will be rehearsed earlier and sent home at an arranged time. Snacks are provided for students staying for the full rehearsals.

The performances will be at 3 and 7 p.m. March 27, with final rehearsals earlier in the day.

The cost to participate is $30 for children of museum members, $35 for nonmembers. Ten scholarships are available for children of low-income families or for families with more than two children who wish to participate. For scholarship applications, call Ken Cagle at 423-339-5745.
