For the first time since the pandemic hit in 2019, the Chattanooga Technology Council’s Scenic City Summit is back for an in-person event.

The one-day gathering starts at 8 a.m. Friday at the Chattanooga Convention Center, and will have more than 40 learning sessions from local, regional and national speakers. The Summit is designed to connect professionals across industries, platforms and businesses to share new methodologies and emerging technologies.

Organizers say they have sold about 375 tickets for the event, and estimate that figure could top 400 with the inclusion of same-day ticket sales. The event is drawing participants from the tri-state area of Georgia, Alabama and other cities throughout Tennessee.

Topics for this year’s event include containers in the cloud, functional programming, microservice REST APIs, using Azure functions and JAMstack architecture. The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Michael Dowden, CEO of Andromeda Galactic Solutions, who will discuss serverless technology and how lean systems help maintain resiliency for technology-related organizations.

“This definitely brings the Chattanooga technology community together,” says Jen LaRose, marketing and community outreach coordinator for the Chattanooga Technology Council. “Because of Covid, we haven’t been together in a while.

“Obviously, people have been on their computers doing things these last couple of years, but in-person still matters. This helps keep the technology community thriving.”

Tickets will be available for purchase on the day of the event, but due to an unexpectedly high turnout, lunch boxes and swag bags won’t be available in the ticket price for those who were not pre-registered. Learn more: sceniccitysummit.com or chatech.org.
