Heavy rainfall on an already soaked Coolidge Park forced the cancellation of the majority of the Moon River Festival on Sunday.

Thunderstorms forced officials to empty the park around 2:30 p.m., and while it was hoped the music could resume Sunday evening, an official announcement went out around 6:30 p.m. letting people know the event had been canceled because of the heavy rains that hit around 4 p.m.

The safety of the fans, artists and staff were cited as the primary reason for the cancellation.

People who bought one-day tickets for Sunday will be refunded their ticket price, and in-full and two-day ticket buyers will receive 50% of their ticket, according to the announcement.

Drew Holcomb and Friends is playing a show at Soldiers and Soldiers Memorial Auditorium that is free to Moon River ticket holders on a first come, first serve basis. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
