A grand jury decided to formally charge Timmons with second-degree murder March 14, according to court filings.
Timmons was arrested on the indictment Saturday, jail records show.
Second-degree murder typically applies in cases where the killing may not have been premeditated but was still intentional. A person found guilty of the charge can face between 15 and 60 years in prison, as well as fines up to $50,000.
Now, Timmons awaits his first court appearance. He is set to appear in front of Judge Barry Steelman on May 3 in Hamilton County Criminal Court, according to court filings.
Court records show Timmons has previously been charged multiple times with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.
