Tennessee’s football recruiting for the 2024 signing cycle appears to be picking up steam again.

The Volunteers on Tuesday received a nonbinding pledge from Jordan Burns, a four-star linebacker out of Pace Academy in Atlanta. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder is Tennessee’s second commitment in four days, following the Saturday night announcement from Bradley Central running back Boo Carter.

Burns is rated by 247Sports.com as the nation’s No. 34 linebacker prospect and the No. 389 overall recruit. He visited Tennessee last week after taking trips to Arkansas and Vanderbilt earlier this month.

Tennessee now has 13 commitments, with that collection ranked 10th nationally and fourth among Southeastern Conference programs behind Georgia (No. 1 overall), Florida (No. 3) and LSU (No. 6).

Burns, the lone linebacker among Tennessee’s pledges, posted “100% COMMITTED” on Twitter with a “GBO” hashtag, and Volunteers coach Josh Heupel responded with a “GBO” hashtag. Burns also plays running back at Pace, which went 8-3 last season at the Class AAAA level.

The Vols have three commitments from the Chattanooga area — Carter, Bradley Central defensive back Marcus Goree and McCallie School defensive end Carson Gentle.
