The performances Tyner point guard Kohl Ward has put together as a freshman would make quite the highlight-reel mixtape.
Ward still put on a show Saturday, but he switched it up for his latest clips in a 80-48 victory at Howard.
The Rams’ floor general — who entered the matchup averaging six assists per game — this time stood out from downtown as Ward drilled five of his team’s 10 3-pointers.
In the first quarter alone, Ward hit long-range shots from three different zones, and his lean-in jumper from the left wing made for a quick 28-11 lead as he accounted for half of his team’s scoring to that point.
“My whole life I have been trained to shoot,” said Ward, who was 5-for-11 from behind the arc on his way to tying Howard senior standout Jaylen Taylor for the game high with 21 points.
