Q. Did Celine Dion perform in Chattanooga? Possibly as an opening act in the 1980s?

— Carolyn Richie

A. Research by the Chattanooga Times Free Press found only one appearance by Celine Dion in Chattanooga, on Aug. 1, 1994, as an opening act for Michael Bolton at McKenzie Arena. According to a concert review in the Chattanooga Free Press the next day, Dion sang nine songs over 45 minutes and chatted “regularly with the crowd between offerings ranging from the theme of Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to her signature song, ‘Power of Love.'”
