Silverdale Seahawks standout middle infielder Owen Phillips realizes just how special the time he has been given to play the game of baseball is.
On the diamond he has enjoyed being a part of the most successful four-year run in program history, which includes 98 wins.
Phillips and his classmates could also be a part of a third consecutive trip to the Spring Fling for the Division II-A state tournament Final Four if the Seahawks can win two games in their state quarterfinals best-of-three road series against Columbia Academy starting Wednesday.
“We just want to spend more time together,” said Phillips, who starred at the Spring Fling in 2023 by going 3-for-8 with a home run, double, two hit by pitches, two runs scored and a walk in three games. “Every day Coach (Lance) Rorex challenges us. He challenges us more on the faith side of things than anything else and wants us to make sure we have God regardless if we win or lose the game. Our faith has definitely grown together as a team this season.”
