DALTON, Ga. — There was no panic in the Christian Heritage Lions on Friday night as visiting Dade County scored on three of its first four possessions to take a 20-14 lead midway through the second quarter.
After all, the Lions had Carter Triplett on their side.
The senior quarterback reestablished himself as Northwest Georgia’s premier dual threat, passing for 274 yards and four touchdowns while adding 101 rushing yards in a 38-26 win in the GHSA Region 7-A Division I opener for both teams.
Christian Heritage is now 3-1 overall, with Dade falling to 1-3.
“We have a lot of faith in Carter, and he delivered tonight,” Christian Heritage coach Frank Barden said. “We didn’t play very well early, especially defensively, but we made the plays when we had to. It’s a nice way to get started in region play.”
