House District 29 state Rep. Greg Vital, R-Harrison, says he is in Nashville “to get stuff done.”

For him, that’s not necessarily promoting mammoth pieces of legislation but focusing on constituent services, being a consensus builder and to help agencies be more effective.

With previous service on the Collegedale Board of Commissioners and having created and grown a thriving senior living company, Vital believes service in the legislature is an opportunity to give back and “to make a difference.”

One such small instance in which he was directly involved, he noted in a meeting with the Times Free Press editorial board, was to get the registration fee for independent bus drivers — as opposed to that of fleet drivers — reduced.

Vital is seeking his second full term in the state House, having won a special election for the seat in Sept. 2021 after the death of former state Rep. Mike Carter, R-Ooltewah. He was unopposed in 2022.
