Allen will represent us better in Congress

We are writing to support Jack Allen for Congress in Tennessee’s District 3. We met Jack when he first announced his campaign and have spoken with him several times since then. He grew up here, went to school nearby and was a successful businessman in Athens, Tennessee. He is now devoting his time to helping the people of our district.

I urge you to read his biography and positions on his website at JackAllenforCongress.com. He is especially passionate about women’s health care, motivated by the death of his wife due to cancer.

What has most impressed me about Jack is his down-to-earth personality, his ability to communicate with people of all political perspectives and his work ethic. He has been spending the past year traveling over 40,000 miles all over this district to meet and talk with the people he wants to represent. This is a distinct contrast to the current professional politician who is our congressperson. When was the last time Chuck Fleischmann offered an opportunity to speak directly with constituents? When was the last time he had a forum or debate with his opponents to compare and contrast their visions for the future? I can tell you that it’s not since he ran for office the first time 14 years ago. At a recent scheduled event for Jack and Chuck to meet and share with a group of citizens, Chuck was a no-show. He’s been offered other opportunities for candidate forums and hasn’t even had the courtesy to respond, much less agree to appear.

Jack Allen has the smarts, the honesty, the temperament and the openness to serve the people of the 3rd Congressional District. We deserve that. Please vote for Jack Allen on Nov. 5.

Reject extremism; vote for Lennon

Reading the Times Free Press report by Andrew Schwartz, “A Chattanooga church’s electioneering apparently violated federal tax law, experts say. Does it matter?,” I learned the bottom line is that the IRS will not be removing Calvary Chapel’s tax-exempt status anytime soon.

Thank goodness voters who do not support the extreme platform of Michele Reneau, candidate for state House District 27, can vote for Kathy Lennon. Her community-based platform includes:

› Providing education for every student in every neighborhood (no to school vouchers).

› Bringing affordable and accessible health care to everyday Tennesseans.

› Eliminating Tennessee’s grocery sales tax (we’re one of the last 13 states that still have this regressive tax.)

› Ensuring corporations no longer receive more tax breaks than hard-working Tennesseans.

As District 27’s state House representative, Kathy Lennon will represent her community by ignoring political extremism that doesn’t help any of us, and instead will prioritize the real needs we all share.

Vote for Kathy Lennon on Nov. 5 or vote early during Oct. 16-31.

Lennon will support needed red flag laws

Kathy Lennon reflects and respects our values and opinions on common-sense gun safety laws that help to keep our children and families safe,. A recent Vanderbilt University poll found 76% of Tennesseans favor red flag laws that restrict access to guns for those who are at high risk of harming themselves or others. Kathy Lennon has stated she favors the passage of a red flag law. Her opponent, Michele Reneau, states on her webpage she opposes red flag laws. Kathy Lennon will vote for us and our safety. We need to vote for her.
