A 63-year-old woman was killed while trying to cross Brainerd Road, according to Chattanooga police.
Officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck on the 4700 block of Brainerd Road around 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release.
They found the woman with life-threatening injuries, and she died after being taken to a hospital, police said.
It appears the woman was trying to cross Brainerd Road when a 16-year-old driver turning onto the road from North Parkdale Avenue hit her, police said based on an early investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
