If anyone is looking for senior defensive end Chris Victor or anyone on else on that side of the ball for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to be in their feelings about last week’s 38-34 loss at Western Carolina, well, good luck.

“If you get knocked out, you’ve just got to get back up, so last week doesn’t faze me too much,” said Victor, who ranks among the top 10 in the Southern Conference in tackles for loss (9.0) and sacks (3.5) this season. “We just have to make sure we get him and make sure everybody’s OK, and we’ll get him next time.

“We don’t need to crash out about it; we just have to keep playing.”

“Him” could be the offense — or the opponent as a whole — but it almost certainly applies to the quarterback in this case.

Western Carolina redshirt freshman Taron Dickens was able to consistently elude UTC’s backfield pressure and extend plays with his legs, at times scrambling for extra yards and at others finding open receivers — either in zones or because the Mocs’ pass coverage couldn’t hold up for long enough. Dickens finished with 472 yards of offense (431 passing) and threw five touchdown passes to end a five-game winning streak this season for the Mocs while extending the Catamounts’ streak of wins in the series to three.
