The holidays bring so much work, from picking out the perfect gifts for those on your list to picking out the perfect tree to put the gifts under. Then there’s wrapping the packages, going to parties and deciding on the ideal hostess gift. The list goes on and on.

So come Christmas morning, the thought of making breakfast seems rather daunting. That’s where a make-ahead casserole can be a lifesaver, one that lets you enjoy the morning — hassle-free to some degree.

Prepare the coffee the night before, so all you have to do is hit the brew button the next morning. Pull the casserole out of the refrigerator and pop it in the oven. Hopefully you’ve got some kind of sweet bread, maybe banana bread or cinnamon rolls, that you’ve made ahead to serve along with it. That’s all you need as the day will be filled with even more food come time for Christmas dinner.

This breakfast casserole is a standby I’ve used for several years. My family loves it, and so do I since it’s so easy to throw together the night before. It has everything breakfasty in it — bacon, eggs and cheese all mixed together with a creamy sauce. That makes it a one-dish meal — something we can all appreciate during this busy season.
