The members of Congress — and all Americans — are tangled up in the mess that has been created by the effort to get a trillion-dollar-plus, red-ink ObamaCare medical bill enacted. Lots of people want government to take on new medical costs, but not many people want to pay for them.
Nobody expects “government” to pay everyone’s grocery bills. Obviously, there’s nothing in the Constitution that says government should do that.
Nobody expects “government” to house us, clothe us, buy us cars, etc. Those things are obviously personal responsibilities.
In fact, the Constitution, in the 10th Amendment, says the federal government is not responsible for anything that is not specified in the Constitution.
But there is a big push to provide socialized medicine through ObamaCare. Many would like to have it “free.” But it can’t be “free.” ObamaCare would impose an additional trillion-dollar-plus annual cost on us as taxpayers!
And that would be in addition to the trillion-dollar-plus annual deficits the federal government already is running, adding to the national debt, that is headed toward $14 trillion, on which taxpayers must pay interest.
Who wants trillion-dollar-plus tax increases to pay for the deficits and ObamaCare?
Wouldn’t it be a good idea now to look at what the Constitution says, what our tax burdens indicate, what our personal pocketbooks tell us, and consider this matter very carefully before another trillion-dollar-plus obligation is imposed upon all of us?
