To hear those who support illegal immigration tell it, the bad eggs – the ones who are arrested or convicted of crimes in the country they have co-opted – are minuscule.

So when they hear of President Donald Trump’s deportation plans, starting with those who have committed crimes, they can’t imagine it will be long before they get around to those who have kept their noses clean.

Well, according to the 2024 Immigration Report by the Tennessee District Attorney’s General Conference and published by law, the numbers aren’t so minuscule.

Although the report includes only complete filings from 71 of the state’s 95 counties, 2,719 reports of illegal immigrants charged with or convicted of a criminal offense in Tennessee were made in the last three months of 2024. That’s not the entire year but the last three months.

The Tennessee law mandating the report did not require the analysis of such data to begin until Jan. 1, 2025, but the District Attorney’s General Conference said it began Oct. 1, 2024, to provide a more complete picture.
