Chattanooga Preparatory School will not have its charter revoked but instead will operate under probationary status following a review by Hamilton County Schools and the school’s new leadership team.
In a joint statement, Superintendent Justin Robertson and Troy Kemp, CEO of Prep Public Schools, said district officials and school leaders have worked to evaluate past practices and implement changes to ensure compliance.
As a result, Robertson has withdrawn his recommendation to revoke the school’s charter. The probationary status does not affect the school’s operations or accreditation.
“Students, parents and staff at Chattanooga Prep can be confident that the school and the district are committed to the long-term success of the school and its scholars,” the statement said.

To remain in good standing, Chatt Prep must meet several corrective actions, including:
— Providing course verification for students in grades 6-11 and additional evidence that all standards have been taught and assessed
— Providing proof of continuous insurance coverage
— Updating records to reflect the correct teacher of record and providing an explanation when administrators serve dual roles

Some actions are already completed or in progress, including a review of teacher licensure and certification, a student transcript audit, human resources procedure revisions and ongoing collaboration between the district, the school and outside consultants.
