They expect to come up with a new plan for the site after one was turned down Monday by a planning panel.

A Chattanooga planning panel denied a request Monday for a proposed 12-story building near the city’s waterfront, but the developer said the company still wants to buy the high-profile site and rework the project.

“We’re going to reformulate a plan,” Nash Bowen, chief executive of the firm Kronos Capital, said after a meeting about the proposal for 200 Market St. near the Tennessee Aquarium.

Bowen’s company had offered a new project to the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission at the meeting, which he said was a six-story building with commercial and residential space.

But the planning commission said neither neighbors nor staff had a chance to review it before the meeting and moved to deny rezoning for the original high-rise project.
