Life is just different these days for Tony Brown.
The former City High, University of Memphis and NFL lineman has had a drastic change to his work schedule this season as a University of Tennessee at Chattanooga assistant coach. A year after assisting at East Hamilton High School, he is working with the Mocs’ defensive linemen.
There are no more days of arriving on campus in the afternoon before a high school practice. Brown has a coach’s office at UTC and usually gets there in the mornings.
Combining his talents with the impressive resume that defensive line coach Marcus West has put together, it’s no surprise that the unit is coming together like it is.
Brown primarily has worked with the defensive tackles, as that was his position during his playing career. The group that already boasts All-Southern Conference lineman Josh Freeman has relied on some new players, namely sophomore Taylor Reynolds and redshirt freshman Isaiah Mack. They’ve helped the line register 12 sacks through the first four games of the season for the eighth-ranked Mocs, who are off this week.
