Travelers departing from the Chattanooga Airport will be required to check their bags at least 45 minutes before their flight’s scheduled departure time.
The new requirement, which went into effect Tuesday, applies to all airlines.
Previously, airlines represented at the airport had different required times for checked baggage. The 45-minute requirement standardizes the time frame, so each airline can more efficiently serve its passengers, airport representative Albert Waterhouse said in an emailed statement.

“After check-in, your bag always goes through extra screening before it’s loaded onto your flight,” the airport said in a social media post.
In addition to the 45-minute checked baggage rule, the airport recommends all passengers arrive at least two hours before flight departure, whether traveling with checked luggage or not.
