Big Blue Marble Academy students in Chattanooga recently raised money to provide pre-and postnatal care, food and water for mothers in the African country of Sierra Leone. Together, students at BBMA Collegedale and Hixson raised enough money to support five mothers and their babies at Rotifunk Hospital.
Students at the Collegedale and Hixson learning centers collected enough change – $595.44 – to help the mothers and their babies as part of their “Change for a Change” project, according to a news release.
The children made posters to inform the community of the need and asked for change to help mothers and babies, and brainstormed locations to display their posters to help generate awareness and attract donations.
Collectively, students across all of Big Blue Marble Academy’s 93 locations raised $52,516.39, enough to provide care for 525 new mothers.
