With 4:13 remaining in the first half of last Saturday’s second-round National Invitation Tournament win over Dayton, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior guard Honor Huff heard the buzzer sound and senior Jack Kostel running in to give Huff a break.

It wasn’t a big deal to Huff, who is always ready to play but also a team-first guy. But as he got to the bench, the UTC coaching staff was already explaining to him that it was just going to be a quick break with the under-four minute media timeout approaching.

“Anytime they take me out, they always have to give me an explanation,” Huff joked after the win. “I do get surprised (when taken out) — not in a selfish way — because I can go all day, so I just want to know what’s the reasoning? But obviously you need some breaks sometimes.

“I’m human, but I don’t need them (breaks), I’ll tell you that much.”
