The expected incoming county attorney, Janie Varnell, has represented two individuals in lawsuits against Hamilton County, but she does not expect it to hinder her ability to serve in any way, she said.
“This happens all the time,” Varnell said at her office. “I don’t know why it’s been made a big deal of here.”
The Hamilton County Commission will soon formally vote on naming Varnell as the successor to County Attorney Rheubin Taylor. His contract ends June 30.
Once Varnell accepted a job with the county, she was no longer employed with her former firm, Davis & Hoss, she said.
