A Republican Hamilton County school board member is pushing for a more thorough review process for the schools superintendent that mirrors recommendations by the Tennessee School Board Association.

School board member Jodi Schaffer, R-East Brainerd, told fellow members during a policy committee meeting Tuesday that she wants Superintendent Justin Robertson’s annual evaluation to be completed sooner than last year.

The superintendent’s evaluation is supposed to take place in July, according to the school system’s timeline, but last year it happened in December, Schaffer said. The superintendent’s contract says the review will coincide with when data is received from the state.

A school administrator told Schaffer during the meeting that this year’s test scores would be finalized closer to August.
